Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the Global Talent visa, you must:

• Be nominated on Form 1000 at the time of application.
• Have your talent and achievements endorsed by a nominator with a national reputation in the same field, who can be one of the following:
  • An Australian citizen
  • An Australian permanent resident
  • An eligible New Zealand citizen
  • An Australian organisation
• When applicable, the nomination should ideally come from the peak Australian body in your area of expertise.
• Submit a completed Nomination for Global Talent (Form 1000) when lodging your visa application. A completed form entails answering all relevant questions as per the instructions and securing the nominator’s signature.
• Note that nominators cannot be added or changed after the visa application is submitted.
• Possess an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievements.
• Maintain prominence in your field.
• Demonstrate the ability to establish yourself in Australia.
• There is no age restriction for visa application.
• If under 18 or 55 years or older at the time of application, you must prove to be of exceptional benefit to the Australian community.
• The exceptional benefit to the Australian community should be ongoing and sustained, realised shortly after migration.
• Applicants aged 18 years and older must provide evidence of at least functional English proficiency.
• You and any family members applying with you must meet the health requirement.
• You and family members aged 16 years and over applying with you must meet the character requirement.

Duration of Stay:

This is a permanent visa, allowing indefinite stay in Australia. The status of permanent residency is granted on the day the visa is issued, either upon approval while in Australia or upon entry for those outside Australia.

Including Family:

Applicants can include family members in their application, and additional family members can be added at any point before a decision is reached. For applicants under 18, inclusion is limited to parents and their family unit.

Family members applying for the visa must meet health and character requirements, irrespective of their accompanying status.

Nominator Requirements:

To be eligible for this visa, applicants must be nominated by a credible individual or organization with a notable reputation in the same field. The nominator, who can be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, eligible New Zealand citizen, or an Australian organization, should endorse the applicant’s achievements and international standing.

The nomination process should articulate how the applicant will contribute positively to the Australian community, detailing employment prospects and integration into the country. Importantly, the nominator is not obligated to employ the applicant.
