Short-Term Stream

Study without government assistance. Unlimited travel to and from Australia while the visa is valid. Eligibility to apply for permanent residence if criteria are met. Duration of Stay: Temporary, aligned with employer nomination: Up to 2, 4, or 5 years, depending on circumstances. Extension: To stay longer, submit a new nomination by the employer and apply for a new visa. Permanent Residence Pathways: Potential sponsorship by the employer for: Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) or Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187). Other skilled work visa options may apply. Hong Kong Skilled Visa Holders: Eligible for a 5-year extension from July 9, 2020, in addition to their existing time in Australia. Pathway to permanent residency after 5 years for current and future skilled visa holders from Hong Kong. Including Family Members: Secondary applicants can be included based on the main applicant’s visa history. Criteria vary for those who have or haven’t held a subclass 457 or TSS visa. Health and Character Requirements: Secondary applicants must meet health and character criteria. Cost: Main applicant: AUD1,455. Dependents 18 and over: AUD1,455 each. Dependents under 18: AUD365 each. Medium-Term Stream This visa allows employers to fill workforce gaps by bringing in skilled workers when suitable Australian candidates are not available. Visa Benefits: Work in Australia for your sponsor for up to: 4 years in general. 5 years if you hold a Hong Kong passport. Study without government assistance. Unlimited travel to and from Australia while the visa is valid. Eligible to apply for permanent residence. Duration of Stay: Temporary, aligned with employer nomination: Up to 4 years or 5 years for Hong Kong passport holders. Extension: To stay longer, submit a new nomination by the employer and apply for a new visa. Study without government assistance. Unlimited travel to and from Australia while the visa is valid. Eligible to apply for permanent residence. Duration of Stay: Temporary visa, allowing you to stay as long as the visa remains valid. Including Family: Family members eligible for this visa are those in the family unit of the primary subclass 457 or TSS visa holder. Cost: If the primary visa holder holds a TSS visa: Visa application charge calculated based on the stream of the primary visa (short-term, medium-term, or labour agreement). If the primary visa holder holds a subclass 457 visa: Base application charge: AUD 3,035.00. Additional applicant charge for applicants 18 and over: AUD 3,035.00. Additional applicant charge for applicants under 18: AUD 760.00.
