Carer Visa (Subclass 836): Requirements and Application Details

Eligibility Criteria:

• Be a Carer: You must be willing and able to provide ongoing substantial care and continuing support or assistance to your Australian relative who needs care or their family member living with them who needs care. Understanding their medical condition and care needs is essential.

• Sponsorship: You must be sponsored by an eligible sponsor, and the sponsorship must be approved.

• Hold or Have Held a Substantive Visa: You must hold any substantive visa (except a Transit visa subclass 771) or have held any substantive visa (except a subclass 771) and made a valid application for a subclass 836 visa within a certain time.

Application Requirements:

• Health Requirement: You and any family members applying with you must meet the health requirement.

• Character Requirement: You and family members aged 16 years and over applying with you must meet the character requirement. Other family members might also be asked to meet this requirement.

• Debt Repayment: If you or any family member owes money to the Australian Government, it must be repaid or arrangements made to pay it back.

• No Visa Cancellations or Refusals: You must not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused.

• Australian Values Statement: If you are 18 years of age or older, you must sign an Australian Values Statement confirming your commitment to respect the Australian way of life and obey Australian laws.
