Eligibility Criteria:

• Hold a Certain Visa: You can apply for the visa both inside and outside Australia, except if you hold one of the following visas:
  • Domestic Worker (Temporary) Diplomatic and Consular visa (subclass 426)
  • Temporary Work (International Relations) visa (subclass 403) in the Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or consular) stream
  • Diplomatic (Temporary) visa (subclass 995) – primary visa holder only (family members can apply for a Student visa in Australia)
  • Transit visa (subclass 771)
  • Visitor visa (subclass 600) in the Sponsored Family stream or in the Approved Destination Status stream
• Relationship Requirement: To be eligible, you must be the parent, custodian, or a relative nominated in writing by a parent or custodian of the student visa holder. You must provide care and support for the student visa holder.
• Provide Care and Support: You must be able to provide accommodation, general welfare, and support to the student visa holder.
• Financial Capacity: Have enough money to support yourself during your stay in Australia.
• Health Insurance: Adequate health insurance coverage is required.
• Genuine Temporary Entrant: Your intention must be to stay temporarily in Australia to provide care and support for the student visa holder.
• Character Requirement: You and any family members must meet the character requirement.
• Australian Values Statement: Sign an Australian Values Statement confirming your respect for the Australian way of life and obedience to Australian laws.
• Debt to Australian Government: Must not owe any debt to the Australian Government.
• Visa Cancellation/Refusal: Must not have had a visa cancelled or an application refused.

Visa Privileges:

• Provide care and support for a student visa holder who is under 18 years of age or over 18 in exceptional circumstances.
• Care for more than one student.
• Study an English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) for less than 20 hours per week, or any other study or training for no more than 3 months.

Duration of Stay:

• Stay in Australia until a date specified on your visa grant letter, typically considering the student visa holder’s stay or when they turn 18.

Extension and Further Stay:

• Apply for a further Student Guardian visa to stay longer in Australia.

Including Family:

• Children 6 years old or older can apply for their own student visa.
• Children under 6 years old can only be included in the application under specific circumstances.

Cost:

• Visa costs from AUD710.00 for the main applicant, with additional charges for family members.
